On Wednesday, September 18th the CEO of Lightelligence, Dr. Yichen Shen, addressed the audience at the AI Hardware Summit in Mountain View, California. 

Dr. Shen’s talk explained how Lightelligence is reinventing computing for AI using integrated photonics. He spoke about the history of optical computing, including why it has failed in the past, and how growth of AI and statistical computing and the development of the integrated photonics ecosystem has positioned optical computing for success today. Dr. Shen went on to explain the basic building blocks of optical computing to the mostly digital electronics crowd and concluded the talk with a lively Q&A.
